Nova Medical DC offers biomedical services performing routine scheduled preventive maintenance and functional verification of basic biomedical equipment, including IV infusion, and feeding pumps, suction pumps, hypo/hyperthermia equipment, electronic thermometers, patient scales, infant warmers and incubators, and other basic laboratory equipment, and other equipment not requiring a detailed knowledge of electronics.
Performs inspection and performance verification of the incoming/new class of equipment described above, prior to clinical use.
Accurately and completely documents result of all maintenance, inspections and other activities performed, according to department’s policies and procedures.
Repair support of equipment that is out of scope of Nova’s Biomed expertise or capability like x-ray, ultrasound, sterilization, etc., will be communicated immediately by Nova back to the system manager contact at Hospital for further follow and response coordination by appropriate vendor or resource.

1. Bed Inspection: Bed inspection, operational check, maintenance per manufacturer checklist. As an example, this includes operation, motor wear, noise, sharp edges, exposed wires and electrical check to mention a few items.
2. The 4 critical entrapment zones: On a bed will be tested and certified using the B4000 Bed Entrapment tool, which provides clear pass/fail indicators. It is the only devices currently available to validate compliance set forth by the FDA in their Hospital Bed System Dimensional and Assessment Guidance to Reduce Entrapment document that was issued in 2006. This critical entrapment zone testing will assess the side rails or assist bars that maybe installed on a bed, and also the integration of the mattress to the bed frame and side rails
